These are the questions heating owners ask us most often, answered as plainly as we can. If yours isn't here, a short text to (604) 632-4959 is the quickest way to ask it. The answers above cover the basics; the sections below go a little deeper on the topics that come up most.
Frequently asked questions
What exactly is HeatingBusiness.ca?
A Canadian digital marketing and business consulting service for heating companies, part of the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group and led by Ali Sedighi, MBA, from Vancouver. We plan growth with public data and your records, then market the company to match.
Do you install or service heating equipment?
No. We are not a contractor. We don't install, repair or service furnaces, boilers or heat pumps, and we don't give technical or code advice.
Where do your market numbers come from?
From public sources we have loaded ourselves, mainly Statistics Canada tables on heating systems, business counts and natural gas distribution, and Canada Energy Regulator profiles. Each figure is linked and dated, and our own calculations are labelled as analysis.
Can you tell me what a good close rate or average ticket is?
No, and we would be wary of anyone who claims to. We have not found a reliable public benchmark for Canadian heating companies. We compare your numbers with your own past quarters instead.
How much does it cost?
An HVAC.Agency marketing plan begins at $2,998 a month and a website at $3,500, with GST/HST based on your province (GST and QST in Quebec) added on top. Stand-alone planning work is quoted in writing.
Is there a long contract?
No. There is no lock-in. Notice periods and other terms are written into your proposal before you sign.
Is there a trial?
Yes. HVAC.Agency plans include a 7-day free trial with a marketing audit, website performance check, SEO analysis and competitor benchmarking. No credit card is required.
We tried an agency before and it didn't work. Why would this be different?
We can't promise it will be. What we can do is measure differently: by booked installs and spend per install for each equipment line, reviewed every quarter, so you can see within one or two quarters whether it is working.
Who owns the website and the ad accounts?
Ownership of your website, ad accounts, profiles and data is set out in writing in your proposal, so there is no ambiguity before work begins.
How soon will I see results?
It depends on your market and starting point. Some changes, like fixing a business profile or missed-call handling, show quickly; search rankings build over months. We report every month and review every quarter.
Can you promise a number of leads?
No. Nobody honest can. We show you the method, the results from our HVAC work, and how we will measure progress.
How do you report?
Monthly reporting comes with every plan, and weekly reporting with Growth and Elite. Planning clients also get a scorecard and a quarterly review with a written decision log.
Do you work outside British Columbia?
Yes, across all provinces and territories. We meet clients in person and by video call, and talk by phone, text and email.
What if I want to sell the company one day?
Clean KPIs and a decision log make a company easier to value. When you are ready to talk about a sale or succession, the group's exit brand, BizSell.ca, handles that side.
About our data
Our market figures come from three Statistics Canada tables and the Canada Energy Regulator's territorial profiles, all linked on the pages where we use them. The heating-system table is a survey of households, released every two years, most recently for reference year 2023. The business counts are a snapshot of registered employer locations, and Statistics Canada advises against reading them as a time series. The gas distribution table gives monthly deliveries and customers by province through December 2025.
Whenever we divide, add or compare those figures, we say it is our analysis. The guide to the heating-system table explains how to read the source yourself.
About benchmarks
Owners often ask how they compare with "the industry". Our honest answer is that we haven't found a trustworthy public benchmark for heating KPIs in Canada, and inventing one would mislead you. What we can compare is your company against its own past, split by equipment line, and your market against public data. That is what the KPI scorecard does.
About money and terms
Plan and website prices come from HVAC.Agency's published list and are shown on our pricing page. Planning work is quoted in writing. Tax is added at your province's rate. There is no lock-in, and terms such as notice and ownership are written into your proposal. We don't add terms that aren't in writing.
About working with us
You start with a senior strategist, and Ali Sedighi leads the work. We meet by video call or in person, and we are easy to reach by phone, text or email. We usually reply within one business day. The contact page explains what to include in your first message.
About timelines
Most first engagements follow a similar pattern. The first conversation takes under an hour. A KPI scorecard or market brief usually takes a few weeks, depending mostly on how easily your records export. A growth plan builds on those and takes several weeks more. Marketing work under an HVAC.Agency plan starts with the 7-day free trial. Your written proposal gives the actual dates for your project, and we report against them.
About heat pumps, rebates and timing
Many owners first contact us because they are unsure how far to move toward heat pumps. Our answer always starts with your province's data and your own install mix, because the right speed in Charlottetown is not the right speed in Regina. Rebates matter, but they open and close often. On every page we date the programs we mention, and we tell you to confirm them with the administrator before advertising. A plan that only works while one rebate lasts is a fragile plan, so we test each growth plan with and without the rebate.
About your records
You don't need perfect records to start. Most heating companies keep jobs in field service software, invoices in an accounting package and calls in a phone system, and those three rarely agree with each other. Part of the first month is reconciling them and writing down definitions, so the numbers mean the same thing next quarter. Read-only exports are enough; you stay in control of every account.
About what we won't do
We won't install or service equipment, give technical or code advice, invent statistics or benchmarks, promise results, or advertise a rebate we haven't checked. Those limits are part of why our numbers can be trusted. If a question is outside them, we will tell you who to ask instead.
